How did we get here?

Our Why

Around the world, emerging civic science scholars and social entrepreneurs are struggling to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of civic science. The challenges are many but include navigating the gap between scholarship and practice, building new connections, and finding professional development funding just to name a few. Although progress is occurring, more must be done to support these change agents. 

Overview

Built by the Civic Science Media Lab, the Sai Resident Collective (also known as the Sai, Sai Collective, or the SRC) is a community of scholars and social entrepreneurs who are building the next generation of civic science initiatives that strengthen the connections between science and society around the world. Residents have access to each other for peer mentorship, professional development funding, stakeholder introductions, summer interns, and more.

Provide access to timely insights and professional development funding to help residents navigate the landscape of civic science so that they can build fundable, sustainable, and impactful initiatives that expand pathways of engagement between people and science around the world.

We envision a future where civic science engagement is lifelong, inclusive, diverse, and accessible. Our core belief is thataccess to science is a necessary catalyst for social advancement and ultimately, global peace.
