Welcome to the Civic Science Media Lab
We are an investigative newsroom that examines the civic nature of science around the world. The primary goal is to make civic science more accessible, informative, and actionable for diverse stakeholders in the field who are building solutions to benefit society. The CSM Lab conducts investigative civic science journalism to interrogate and unravel ongoing progress and shed light on important developments across the field. Our journalistic endeavor allows us to pose probing questions to elicit actionable for researchers, practitioners, and local community leaders.
The CSM Lab is currently affiliated with the Sai Resident Collective and the College of Arts, Media, and Design (CAMD) at Northeastern University. The lab is led by civic science entrepreneur Dr. Fanuel Muindi (fmuindi@saicollective.org).
The CSM Terminal is an advanced aggregation and thematic analysis hub that integrates the various civic science journalism sources developed by the Civic Science Media Lab to provide fast access to new insights that help diverse stakeholders turn information into actionable knowledge.
The terminal helps users stay current with new developments, make faster connections between ideas, analyze insights from multiple angles, learn new skills, and so much more.
As the flagship project of the CSM-Lab, the main goal of the CivicSciTV Network is to provide diverse stakeholders with timely and usable civic science insights by:
- Bringing to the forefront the newest thinking and actionable ideas from civic science scholars and practitioners;
- Covering the latest news & telling engaging stories from civic science users, leaders, and organizations in the field;
- Enhancing the visibility of innovative initiatives connecting people to science;
