SAi Fellows Program Awarded Burroughs Wellcome Fund Grant

The SAi Fellows Program Team is thrilled to announce that they have been awarded a grant in support of their growing Fellowship program from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund. The program was started in 2019, after a lack of opportunities for trainees and students to formally acquire the mentorship and exposure necessary to conduct science outreach effectively and with skill. The fellows program fills this void by mentoring and supporting graduate students with early stage project ideas which aim to increase public understanding and engagement with science.

The program encourages outside-the-box ideas that utilize creative ways to engage communities that have been traditionally underrepresented and underserved. Fellows receive both professional and project development support on theory, design, implementation, and evaluation. Since its inception in 2019, there have been 11 fellows, and the generous support of the BWF allows for this excellent program to continue and grow, with a more robust curriculum and group of mentors, and the ability to continue to attract top students with the most innovative ideas.

This new iteration of the SAi Fellows Program kicks off on September 12th and runs 10 weeks. The program will culminate in a virtual showcase on November 14th, which will be open to the public.
