Two SAI projects (Stories in Science and Drawn2Science) have been accepted to participate in the 2019 Cambridge Science Festival between Apr 12-21. On their website, it states the following: “The Cambridge Science Festival, the first of its kind in the United States, is a celebration showcasing the leading edge in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). A multifaceted, multicultural event, the Festival makes science accessible, interactive and fun, highlighting the impact of STEAM in all our lives.
Based out of the MIT Museum, we are a tiny team organizing a 10-day, 200+ event festival with a robust group of some of the most intelligent scientists, generous sponsors, creative non-profits, dedicated volunteers, and curious university students in the world!”
Event Description for Stories in Science on Apr 14, 2019
Science is driven by people who face frustrations, mistakes, failures, success, discovery, doubt, lack of motivation, confusion, disagreements and so much more. The Stories in Science Gallery will (1) showcase the current diversity of stories in science from scientists and the public around the world through videos, podcasts, and literary art; (2) provide an opportunity for visitors to showcase their own stories in science; and (3) provide space for visitors to meet new people and engage in conversation regarding the diversity of stories in science. Event Description for Drawn2Science (Date TBD)
The goal of this event is for students to engage with scientists, learn about what fascinates us about biology, and experience a different approach of how to view the sciences. Science is not just logical thinking, but so much more. Biology in particular can be highly visual, beautiful, and benefit from an artistic and creative mindset. We hope to relay to the participants that art and science are not opposites but there is profound overlap between these two things that can be appreciated as well.
