SAi Resident Prasha Sarwate Gives TEDx Talk

by Noelle Tutunjian

On September 11th, 2020, SAi Member Prasha Sarwate was a featured speaker at TEDx Wilson Park, discussing her podcast, Her STEM Story. Check out what Prasha had to say about the experience below:

Can you give a short description of your talk?

My TEDx is about the idea that we need to focus our efforts on keeping women in STEM versus getting more girls in STEM. I share the story of my podcast and how diverse women I interviewed inspired me to grow in my STEM career. I leave the audience with a practical way to find their own relatable and diverse role models. The talk is titled “Why women leave their careers in STEM”.

What excited you most in terms of being selected?

Omg everything! I’ve waited for this moment for so long. It’s been my dream for 3 years and I knew I had it in me to be on the red dot. It’s guided me through my ideas and how I show up for my community. Everything I did, I would ask myself “ Can this be my idea worth sharing?”. Most exciting part for sure is the ability to share my idea with the world.

How has SAi helped you achieve this huge accomplishment?

SAI has been a huge part of my journey! From day 1 [SAi Founder] Fanuel has asked me tough questions to help me create something different and impactful. SAI helped me with confidence, website designing and everything in between. I’ll always be grateful to Fanuel and Jess for creating this amazing platform so that creators like me don’t feel alone and get support in everything they do.
