On April 6th 2019, Wheaton College hosted their 3rd Annual Women in STEM Summit on their campus in Norton, Massachusetts. The theme of the event was, Build, Connect, Create & Pass it On, on the lines of how communities can help bridge the gender gap in STEM fields.
Her STEM Story’s Host Prasha Sarwate Dutra from SAI was invited to give a talk during the “Community Trailblazers” session. Prasha spoke about the inception of her podcast and how she’s building a community to support women through storytelling. She emphasized the importance of stories in fixing the leaky pipeline of talent in STEM. Her talk was received with great enthusiasm!
After the talk, Prasha and Sarah McAnulty, Founder of Skype A Scientist, led a breakout session. During the session they interacted with students and answered their questions about community building in STEM, using social media to amplify your voice and questions around how to work in a male dominated workplace.
