Growing up, I loved to read the dictionary. So it’s no surprise that using words to get results has been my focus throughout my entire career. I am a communication strategist, author and speaker who has served as a media spokesperson, culture and brand builder, employee motivator, speech writer, speaker coach, and storyteller. Along the way, I’ve explained T1 multiplexers, anti-angiogenesis, how the LA police tracked OJ Simpson, as well as countless corporate transactions, initiatives and decisions made by CEOs.
After enjoying a front row seat to the birth of the global wireless industry and leading merger communications for the Vodafone AirTouch deal, I founded a boutique consulting firm. My business gave me more time with my daughters and the good fortune of contributing to the success of start-ups and global giants in tech, biotech, wireless and telecom including Genentech, BioMarin, Hyperion, Polaris Wireless and Cisco.
I became an author in collaboration with my favorite scientist (now husband) when University of California Press published Championing Science – Communicating Your Ideas to Decision Makers. Celebrating the book launch in Bhutan, I had an epiphany during a lecture on Buddhism. Since then, I’ve made it my mission to be a success catalyst for STEM graduates. Through lectures and workshops, I equip them with communication, relationship-building and influence skills so they can make a bigger impact, earlier in their careers. I look forward to supporting SAi and the fellows as they position, pitch and launch their impressive projects.
