Born in Chile and raised in Michigan, Tannia M. Rodriguez is a researcher and medical student at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. She received her BS and MS in Biomedical Engineering from Wayne State University’s College of Engineering, and MS in Global Health at the University of California, San Francisco. Tannia is passionate about increasing minority representation in STEM professions, and actively volunteers and holds leadership positions with MiMentor, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and LatinXinBME (C7 Fellow!). She is the upcoming president for LatinXinBME, an international community-powered online platform that helps Latinx college students in biomedical engineering (BME) foster their inclusion and success within the broader BME community. After completing her medical training, Tannia aspires to become a physician-innovator to address health disparities through clinical and academic work. In her free time, Tannia likes to go on bike rides, cook with her husband, and dance.
