Formally launched in April 2022, the goal of the SRC endowment is to provide a perpetual source of unrestricted funding to support residents in the collective. Over time, the endowment is envisioned to eventually provide an annual distribution that is the largest source of revenue in SRC’s annual budget (see annual reports). The endowment was made possible with an inaugural contribution from Fanuel Muindi and his wife Moytrayee Guha who in 2014 envisioned the existence of a global fund for science education. The SRC endowment is invested as a single entity with a portfolio of equities and/or bonds in ETFs, mutual funds, and other vehicles that are evaluated for environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors. The fund is currently overseen by the Board of Trustees and hosted by the Vanguard Equity Index Group.
