Arianna Zuanazzi, Ph.D.Resident, Scholar Track (2023) (Z-Lab)

I am a neuroscience researcher and a science communication and outreach practitioner. I am currently a Research Affiliate in the Department of Psychology at New York University, where I use behavioral and neuroimaging techniques to investigate human brain processes. I earned my B.A. and M.A. in Linguistics from the University of Pavia (Italy), my M.Sc. in Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Trento (Italy), and my Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Birmingham (UK). I am fascinated by interdisciplinary environments, where science intersects with art, storytelling, and society. As a STEM researcher, I am interested in how the human brain creates meaning through language and music. As a STEAM advocate, I manage the Symbiosis Competition at Imagine Science, an initiative that pairs scientists and filmmakers to create symbiotic films.

My research program at SAi explores formats, goals, advantages, and barriers in the partnership between scientists and artists. I employ quantitative and qualitative methods and an open science approach to evaluate current SciArt collaborations and to strengthen SciArt practices. When I am not doing research or science outreach, I enjoy growing huge monsteras, biking around NYC, and exploring new cafes. Email Contact: azuanazzi[at]saicollective.org
